This online book study will assist you in reflecting on your belief systems and methodology in creating brave, safe, and affirming classroom spaces. Through various activities such as “mirror work” and “collective work”, as well as thoughtful reflection and meaningful dialogue, we will explore the purpose of creating spaces that affirm the humanity of all students. If you are committed to creating more equitable spaces for all learners, please join us for our inaugural virtual meeting on Thursday, September 28th from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. as we warmly welcome Dr. Teresa Lance, Assistant Superintendent for Equity and Innovation with U46. Dr Lance will share her experiences and efforts to increase equity and inclusion across multiple school districts. Participants will have the opportunity to partner with other educators and practitioners across Illinois to discuss ways to apply Dr. Lance’s strategies to their own settings. Today we kicked off our FIRST Math Cadre meeting of the school year! Educators from Brimfield, Peoria Heights, and Elmwood worked collaboratively to operationalize each of the eight Standards of Mathematical Practice. They shared key ideas and provided practical suggestions that classroom teachers and math interventionists could use with students at various skill levels.
