Today we kicked off our FIRST Math Cadre meeting of the school year! Educators from Brimfield, Peoria Heights, and Elmwood worked collaboratively to operationalize each of the eight Standards of Mathematical Practice. They shared key ideas and provided practical suggestions that classroom teachers and math interventionists could use with students at various skill levels. Remember to mark your calendars for our next Math Cadre meeting which will be held on November 30th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  at Goodwill Commons in Peoria.  Click the link in comments to register! Please feel free to reach either of our Professional Learning Specialists - Marcia Lough (mlough@peoriaroe.org) or Sonya Pacey (spacey@peoriaroe.org) with any questions! We hope to see you soon!

The @PeoriaROE48 Spotlight Educator for September is Ryan Lambert from @FCCUSD265!! Ryan was nominated by a community member that stated that he "pushes students to do their best work. He can be found at the school for almost every event supporting every student." When asked what it means to be an educator, Mr. Lambert replied, "Education is a field that builds foundations for all other fields of study. Being an educator is not singular---I am an educator standing along with my colleagues, custodians, cafe workers, secretaries, facilitators, and our community. WE come together to be one educator for our students. WE build a positive school culture. WE build a safe space and a brave place for our students. It is an honor to be a part of the WE at FCHS." Congratulations, Ryan! Thank you for all you do for students and the teaching profession.
